The company has received several reports of the smartphone catching fire, even the company has globally recalled the said smartphone. The National Association of Home Builders' index jumped six points to 65 . The index has been mostly at 58 since rising to 61 in January. Pipeline leak has gas prices on the rise in Virginia

A burst pipeline carrying gasoline has caused a spike in gas prices in Southeastern states, where landscapers' mowing season has yet to wind down. More than 360,000 gallons of gas have spilled out of the pipeline in Helena in rural Shelby County since the leak was discovered on 10 days ago on September 9. (more...)

The U.S. economy is far from robust, posting a sub-par 1.2 percent increase in second quarter gross domestic product. Brent crude, used to price worldwide oils, rose 76 cents to $46.53 per barrel. The Fed is widely expected to stand pat on interest rates but it is in fact the BoJ's announcement that could have the strongest effect on US interest rates "as the marginal buyer of Treasurys comes from overseas", said Guy LeBas, chief fixed-income strategist at Janney Montgomery Scott. Consumer watchdog agency urges Samsung Galaxy Note 7 owners to power down

Several airlines have asked travelers not to use or charge the smartphones while flying or put them in checked baggage. In the meantime, users can return the Note 7 for another device. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) also advised against packing the phones into any checked-in luggage. The Associated Press obtained a copy of the prepared remarks, in which Stumpf says he is "deeply sorry" the bank failed to fulfill its responsibility to customers. Speaking at a banking conference in NY, he said 10 percent of the 5,300 employees fired were branch managers or more senior staffers. Some former employees say the explanation is simple: Wells has continued to push the sales goals that caused employees to break the rules in the first place. (more...)
