Apple records its biggest and most profitable quarter ever

The company inched past its previous record, established when it sold 74.5 million iPhones in the holiday quarter of 2014. The Mac is also slipping, from 5.5 million units sold last year to 5.3 million this year. Apple boss Tim Cook credited "all-time record sales of iPhone , Apple Watch and Apple TV" for the performance. IPhone sales rose last quarter, as did profits and overall sales. (more...)

Apple's stock has been in a slump for months, as investors worry the company won't be able to duplicate last year's growth in sales, which were in the double-digit percentages. However, Apple's sales outlook for the current quarter was modest. On the company's earnings call today, its CEO, Tim Cook, acknowledged that Apple expects iPhone sales to actually fall next quarter. Blitzer, managing director and chairman of the Index Committee at S&P Dow Jones Indices. The market is expecting the housing market resurgence to continue well into 2016. Cities with the highest gains year-over-year were Denver, Portland and San Francisco, each with double-digit percentage gains. On Monday, Black Knight Financial Services reported that home prices rose 5.5 percent year over year in November, and have come up 27 percent from the bottom. (more...)

The plan, which had been unanimously approved by creditors almost two weeks ago, will swap $200 million in debt for equity with bondholders, wiping out Mr. In the classic debt-for-equity conversion, the organization's lenders will trade their $230 million in debt for the ownership of the entity. Weil , Stanton and Roetter are among the highest-level departures in recent months, but several executives have left Twitter since co-founder Dorsey stepped in as interim CEO in July.
