Tthe people of North Korea are "exploding like a volcano" over the bomber flights, North Korea's Korean Central News Agency ( KCNA ) revealed . The bombers are nuclear-capable, NPR's Elise Hu reports . "Our intention is to secure the strongest possible (U.N. Security Council ) resolution that includes new sanctions as quickly as possible", Kim was quoted as saying after meeting his South Korean counterpart in Seoul . (more...)

US crude fell $1.26, or 2.7 per cent, to $45.03 a barrel in NY. Anadarko stock sank $1.12, or 1.9 percent, to $56.67 and Freeport-McMoRan fell 68 cents, or 6.1 percent, to $10.40. Europe's broad FTSEurofirst 300 index closed up 0.55 percent at 1,339.13. Of the 30 stocks on the Dow average, only Apple traded higher. The dollar was at 101.93 yen, slightly stronger than 101.85 yen on Monday in NY, but still down from levels around 102.50 yen earlier Monday in Asia. (more...)

IEA gasoline inventories for the week ended September 9 were up 567,000 barrels versus the 343,000-barrel-build estimate. "As a result, supply will continue to outpace demand at least through the first half of next year", the IEA said. Supply is falling thanks to negative North American supply growth, but OPEC, led by Saudi Arabia, is still pumping at full force. "There's a feeling now that even if they come to an agreement, there won't be much to it". (more...)

The price for Brent crude oil was down 1.2 percent to open the day at $46.55 per barrel.
