Bayer signs deal to acquire Monsanto for $66 billion

Bayer's offer is $4 billion more than its initial offer. The US firm has accepted a $128 per share offer from the Aspirin producer, in what represents the biggest all-cash deal in history . The deal is subject to approval by Monsanto shareholders and anti-trust regulators. There is a $2bn break fee if the deal does not complete. Incomes in the USA surged in 2015, delivering the first increase for family households in eight years. Median household income in the USA was $56,516 in 2015, compared to $53,718 in 2014. For the first time, median incomes are higher than when President Barack Obama took office, the AP reported, but still fall short of the $57,909 median income in 1999. (more...)

Morneau is being overly optimistic about the direction of Canada's labour market. Poor management at the U.S. arm of Barclays wealth management business cost it $15m in fines in 2014.
