AstraZeneca Inks Europe Deal For 400M Covid-19 Vaccine Doses

The four countries said earlier this month they had agreed to jointly carry out negotiations with drug developers and manufacturers to explore promising potential vaccines, and that other countries were welcome to join the alliance. The company has struck similar deals with the United Kingdom, the United States, the Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, and Gavi the Vaccine Alliance for 700 million doses. (more...)

Petrol, diesel prices increase for eighth day in a row

In the past six days alone, the price of petrol and diesel across cities and states has increased by Rs 2-3 per litre on an average. They, however, promptly passed the increase in local sales tax or VAT by state governments such as Rs 1.67 increase in VAT on petrol and Rs 7.10 in diesel by the Delhi government on May 4. (more...)

The vaccine from AstraZeneca, developed with the University of Oxford, is one of a handful of vaccines now in the clinical evaluation phase, the World Health Organization said. The announcement from Band-Aid comes as thousands of social media users highlighted how store bought plasters were just one example of institutionalised racism, usually only coming in shades created to match a white skin tone. Still, the new stock could be risky because in bankruptcy all debt - including Hertz' bonds trading Friday at less than half their face value - would have to be repaid in full before shareholders get a single cent. The researchers are now working towards a large scale clinical trial which involves testing the vaccine on 10,000 people. AstraZeneca has agreed manufacturing deals globally to meet its target of producing 2 billion doses of the vaccine, including with two ventures backed by Bill Gates and a US$1.2 billion (RM5.1 billion) agreement with the USA government. Fuel prices: Petrol and diesel prices to increase on Thursday

According to the latest update, the petrol prices have gone up by 57 paise, making it Rs 74.57 per litre while the diesel prices have been increased by 59 paise, which has made it Rs 72.81 per litre in Delhi today. Since that day, petrol has become dearer by ₹3.31 per litre while diesel has become more costly by ₹3.42 per litre. Prices of transportation fuel were last revised under the dynamic pricing policy on March 16 and there were few instances of price hike only when the respective ... (more...)

Authorities said the measure would further curb the spread of coronavirus.
