BC reports 10 new coronavirus cases and two new deaths

Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, and Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.'s provincial health officer, have today (May 23) issued the following joint statement regarding updates on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) response in British Columbia. There are 310 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 2,042 people who tested positive have recovered. There is one new community outbreak with five confirmed cases at Nature's Touch, a frozen fruit processing plant in Abbotsford . (more...)

With almost $19bn (£15.6bn) of debt and roughly 38,000 employees worldwide as of the end of 2019, Hertz is among the largest companies to be undone by the pandemic. Hertz has until Friday to make about $400 million in lease payments for its fleet of vehicles or extend a forbearance agreement with its creditors, the news outlet reported. (more...)

As New Jersey continues to see a flattening of the curve COVID-19 outbreak, the state has seen a rise in unemployment rates since pandemic began. The additional weekly $600 created by the new Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program is retroactive to the week ending April 4 and is available through July 25. (more...)
