According to media reports VW wracked by crisis after admitting a year ago it had installed software to cheat on diesel engine emissions tests has been seeking concessions from all of its suppliers, amounting to several billion Euros. Prevent Group did not respond to a request for comment. According to Volkswagen , a halt of deliveries by two suppliers making seats and gearbox parts has interrupted production at six of its plants, affecting some 27,700 workers. (more...)

According to traders, a decrease in China's output to a five-year low has also lifted prices, as it means the country will need to import more crude. North Sea Brent crude LCOc1 was up 10 cents a barrel at $44.15 by 1125 GMT (0725 ET). "Cheap crude has led refiners to produce more refined products worldwide, adding to the oversupplied market", OPEC said in the report. Total OPEC production was up 46,000 barrels per day to 33.11 million barrels. (more...)

Shares of Medivation closed at $67.16 on Friday, and climbed to $80.58 in early US trading Monday. The deal comes four months after Pfizer and Ireland-based Allergan scrapped a US$160 billion merger. The acquisition will allow Pfizer to expand its oncology portfolio. Xtandi drew attention earlier this year from the public interest group Knowledge Economy International, which petitioned the National Institutes of Health to reduce the $129,000-a year list price for the advanced ... CEO David Hung says he made a decision to found the company after watching a 28-year-old breast-cancer patient die during his oncology fellowship. Total revenues edged up 0.5 percent to $120.854 billion from last year's $120.23 billion. Walmart is now expecting its annual earnings to be between $4.15 per share and $4.35 per share in 2016, excluding certain items. With fiscal year 2016 revenue of $482.1 billion, Walmart employs approximately 2.3 million associates worldwide. The company also cut its guidance for the year, raising concern about a broader slump. That's a 21 percent premium to the San Francisco biotech's Friday closing price of $67.19.
