The rise in August was higher than the 3.20% forecast by economists in a Reuters poll. On the news, the pound also went up against the dollar by 0.7 per cent, while it went up by 0.6 per against the euro. Likewise, prepared meals, snacks and candies as a category turned dearer with the rate of price rise at 1.96 per cent from 0.43 per cent in July. Oil prices edged up Tuesday, as the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries ( OPEC ) said its output fell in August in its monthly report . But as refineries gear up for a return, oil prices could find support and product prices could start to see a correction. Target is planning on hiring 100,000 employees to work over the holiday season. Target says they will hire an additional 4,500 people for its distribution centers and fulfillment facilities. Bains Brothers owns Texaco-branded stations near Dallas-Fort Worth that allegedly charged $6.99 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas while the stations' signs advertised prices of $3 to $4. It's a good thing it wasn't intentional, as the stiff civil penalties for price gouging run $20,000 per violation, and additional six-figure fines can be levied if the victims are senior citizens. Nearly 200k easyJet passengers a year already self-connect their easyJet flights through Gatwick Airport. Ryanair launched a similar service, although on a smaller scale, with Air Europa earlier this year. Chief commercial officer Peter Duffy said 70 million passengers that fly though an easyJet airport each year are connecting on to other flights, mainly long haul, and nearly 200,000 easyJet passengers a year already connect to other flights at Gatwick. Total production is forecast at 918 million bushels, down 3 percent from a year ago. Soybeans are a similar story with the average trade estimate at 4.328 billion bushels this month on yields of 48.8 bushels an acre. The crop progress report released September 11 shows a slight drop in soybean conditions but corn remains stable. Analysts, on average, had expected corn production of 14.035 billion bushels and a yield of 168.2 bushels per acre. (more...)
