Buffett's financial moves are closely watched by Wall Street. In addition to a roughly 17 million share stake in GE spinoff Synchrony Financial, an investment valued at almost $521 million at the end of the quarter, Mr. GE has been hurt by weakness in its oil and gas business. According to data on June 6, the 61-year-old billionaire has donated Dollars 4.6 billion of its shares. As usual, the recipient of this donation will likely be Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Mr Gates probably has directed more than 700 million shares of Microsoft into the foundation, adjusting for stock splits, and he would be about $50 billion richer today had he kept them. (more...)

Since 1994 Mr Gates, 61, and his wife Melinda have given away a total of $35bn in cash and stocks to a range of charitable causes. Amazon employees in a back room then load orders into lockers within two minutes, and customers receive bar codes to access them. Instant Pickup items are placed in lockers. Amazon now operates a total of 22 staffed pickup locations on or near college campuses across the country. The Amazon app generates a barcode for Instant Pickup items. (more...)

Steinmetz, who made billions as a diamond and mining magnate, was arrested on December 19 and accused of paying millions of dollars in bribes in the Republic of Guinea in exchange for advancing his business interests in the country. "Prices at the pump continue a slow, upward climb as the summer season draws to a close", said AAA Kansas' Steward. Bernstein also notes that the money Apple is getting from Google is likely all profit - not exactly a bad position to be sitting in.
