One person dead after officer-involved shooting in New London

According to police, he pulled out a weapon when two officers confronted him, and officers responded by drawing their guns and shooting him. "The officers drew their duty weapon and shot the subject". Neighbors told WBAY-TV they heard about six shots fired. The state Department of Justice is handling the investigation. One resident recalls seeing a person on a bicycle getting shot. (more...)

Gawker said Denton, the company's chief executive, informed staffers of the news Thursday afternoon, a few hours before a bankruptcy court in Manhattan decides on Univision's offer. Commenting on the news in an internal email seen by Politico, Denton said: "I am relieved that, with the approval today of the agreement with Univision , that we have found the best possible harbor for Gizmodo, Lifehacker, Kotaku , Jalopnik, Jezebel and Deadspin, and our talented writers and other staff".
