Macy's to shut more stores

Macy's said the annual net sales volume of the locations it plans to close was expected to be about $1 billion. Macy's did not disclose which stores it will close, but said a lot of them will be shut down in early 2017. The retailer is selling its highly successful men's store in Union Square, San Francisco, with plans to reinvest the valuable real-estate proceeds in other parts of the company, such as beefing up its digital bona fides. Day 6 of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio will be eventful in the water for Team USA. For those who have not been privy this information, the Olympic gold medal has not been constructed of solid gold since 1912. 1,000 would really be identified as gold medal No. 1,001. Haas placed fifth in the 200-meter freestyle final. University of Washington also has 11 athletes in the Games. (more...)

Phelps is seeking a fourth consecutive gold medal in the 100 fly. The medal also marked the 1,000th all time gold medal in the Summer Olympics for Team USA. Heavy defeats in sports dominated by China in previous Olympics have left the country languishing in an unfamiliar third place in the medals table, with some predicting that Rio 2016 could see the country's worst haul since 1996. Strike action has been staged four times in the space of three months. A spokesman for Acas, the mediation service hosting the talks, said: "Southern and the RMT are returning to talks tomorrow under the auspices of Acas". He called on Transport Secretary Chris Grayling to take urgent action, adding: " All he needs to do is pick up the phone to GTR and rail services can be restored in time for tomorrow's rush hour. Saudi Arabia, the world's largest exporter of crude oil produced 10.673 million barrels per day of oil in July, up from 10.55 million barrels in June, the data from Opec report shows. Oil's rally has extended for a fifth day, helped by a weaker USA dollar and an unexpected drawdown in United States crude and petrol but traders said the runup may not last, pointing to galloping Saudi output and technical factors. The Market Capitalization of the company stands at 1.64 Billion. (NYSE:OAS), 7 rate it a "Buy", 0 "Sell", while 11 "Hold". Government forecasters last week estimated USA farmers would harvest a record 15.2 billion bushels of corn in 2016, eclipsing the previous record of 14.2 billion bushels collected in 2014. "Soybeans are seeing support today from strong demand, especially from China, which continues to underpin the market in the face of the forecasts of a record US soybean crop this year", said Matt Ammermann, commodity risk manager for INTL FCStone. Last month, despite many forecasts from economists that interest rates would be cut, the MPC voted to leave the Bank Rate at 0.5pc by an eight-to-one majority. The pound rose to US$1.3332 from US$1.3316 in USA trade, as the BOE wraps up a policy meeting later Thursday. "It is not just in the euro zone or in Japan, but even here in Britain we have a situation where central banks have to keep easing to offset headwinds to the domestic and global economy", Rabobank strategist Matt Cairns said. In Cisco's case, its business has been hurt as more of its corporate customers rely on remote data centers for their computing needs instead of online networks maintained on their own premises. Chief Executive Officer Chuck Robbins, who took over in July 2015, has been working to boost growth by shifting Cisco's offerings toward software-based networking, security and management products, which customers increasingly prefer because they're less expensive and more versatile. The single-stall bathrooms, which are already in a "vast majority" of Target locations, are expected to be fully installed by March, Fortune reported . Target on Wednesday reported its first decline in same-store sales in two years and warned that sales could fall in each of the next two quarters, as it struggles with lower shopper traffic to its stores.
