Saudi Arabia has already closed its airspace to Qatari planes, and - along with Bahrain - has revoked the licence of Qatar Airways. On Friday, Tillerson said the blockade is "hindering" military operations in the region. Japanese Government Passes Bill Allowing Emperor Akihito to Officially Resign in 2018

The legal move clears the way for the first abdication by a Japanese monarch in almost two centuries. The abdication of the incumbent emperor would take place for the first time in 200 years. Media reports have said officials are considering the end of 2018, when Akihito turns 85, for the abdication. It also highlights a pressing issue of the shrinking royal population and male successors. (more...)

Rest other currency notes bear the signature of the RBI Governor. The new one rupee coin will be there on the reverse of the note along with the words of "Government of India " and " भारत सरकार". The exercise also saw the introduction of new Rs 2,000 notes. "The notes have been printed by the Government of India..." In an attempt to crack down on black money, the Centre had junked the old Rs 500 notes and replaced them with new ones. (more...)

All courses of actions are being examined. It also said that the successive government's at the Centre, and not the airline's management, were to be blamed for the financial mess of Air India. The CBI is also investigating the charges of giving up profit-making routes and profit-making timings of Air India in favor of national and worldwide private airlines causing a huge loss to the national carrier. Exxon says it plans to acquire new and reprocess existing 3D seismic at Block EG-11. Deepwater block EG-11 measures about 307,000 acres (1,242 km) and is adjacent to Zafiro field, located in Block B. This places Exxon Mobil ahead of other acreage winners in Equatorial Guinea's latest licensing bidding round. Out of 23 companies who expressed interest in the round, 12 submitted bids. (more...)

The benchmark BSE Sensex ended the session up 48.70 points or 0.16 percent at 31,262.06 while the broader Nifty index rose by 21 points or 0.22 percent to 9,668.25. Provisional figures from the stock exchanges showed that foreign institutional investors (FIIs) purchased stocks worth Rs 601.38 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) purchased scrip worth Rs 883.31 crore during the week. Being the second reduction in interest rates in the last two months, SBI has revised interest rates by 8.55 percent p.a. for salaried women borrowers, and for others the rate of interest will be 8.60 percent p.a. We will not require government funds (in FY18). Enthused by the success of SBI merger, the Finance Ministry is considering clearing another such proposal in the public sector banking space by this fiscal end with a goal to create 4-5 global sized lenders.
