Samsung essentially confirms 1TB Galaxy S10+ with new memory chip

This 1TB embedded Universal Flash Storage (eUFS) will allow smartphones to offer 1TB of internal storage space without the need for expandable microSD storage. Random writing is 500 times faster than a high performance microSD card (100 IOPS), reaching up to 50,000 IOPS. The announcement comes a few weeks before the launch of the Galaxy S10 series which has been reported to have a variant with 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage . (more...)

Dubbed for "Electronic Device with Foldable Display Panels", the patent shows the sample drawings of a device that features three displays, which when unfolded will become a tablet. The foldable smartphone has three display areas of equal size, with the sides folding behind the middle section. The iPad 11.1, iPad 11.2, iPad 11.3 and iPad 11.4 designations all relate to WiFi and cellular models but each lack in Face ID. Also found within iOS 12.2 is a mention of an iPod 9,1. Face ID is expensive to implement, and the new iPads are rumoured to be marketed as affordable models using low-cost display panels. In March 2018, Facebook became embroiled in a scandal over the Cambridge Analytica research firm and its sharing of data on as many as 87 million Facebook users. Most interestingly (for those of us that watch Google's UI design patterns, anyway), it features a new account switch interface - the user's profile image is displayed at the top right of the app, and opens the switch control when tapped. In FIFA's Ultimate Team mode (FUT), players can use real world money to buy FIFA Points which can then be spent on packs containing a mixture of mystery footballers to use in their team. Any players in Belgium that have existing FIFA Points in their accounts can continue to use them, but they will not be able to purchase more. EA apologized for the inconvenience and said that the change "is not material to our financial performance". (more...)

Apple has been emphasizing subscriptions as one of its new growth engines . While it's unclear what kinds of games would be included, a subscription service for App Store games could provide a boost to Apple's recurring revenue at a time when iPhone sales are slowing and gaming and esports are booming. Apple now takes a 30-percent cut of App Store purchases but lowers that fee to 15 percent after the first year of a subscription. Earlier, it was reported that the Galaxy M family will initially see three phones - the Galaxy M10, M20 and M30. On the other hand, Galaxy M10 comes with only face recognition unlock feature. A serious Apple iOS bug has been discovered that allows FaceTime users to access the microphone and front facing camera of who they are calling even if the person does not answer the call. Since Apple isn't approaching this problem with enough urgency, we recommend disabling FaceTime for now. It's likely that the update will be included in the public version of iOS 12.2, the same iteration of Apple's operating system that is set to bring Apple News to Canadian iPhone users . (more...)
