APEX calls for immediate solutions to electronics ban

A new U.S. and United Kingdom ban on bringing electronic devices larger than cellphones into the cabin on flights from the Middle East is due to begin on Saturday. Basel Kilani has told The Associated Press that the airline was still awaiting formal instructions from the relevant USA departments, which could possibly come later on Tuesday. (more...)

Google Home is launching in the United Kingdom on 6 April at a price of £129, the company has this morning announced. Google tested Home in noisy environments to ensure it can hear requests over the babble of a busy home. Home has been available in the United States since October 2015 and has been extremely popular over there. In response, Amazon has been reaching out to third-party developers, encouraging the creation of apps which work with Alexa but not Google Assistant. (more...)

He noted further: "I am happy now that since I called for investigation through a motion, public abuses on the Senate has mellowed down as those colleagues have been explaining and clarifying issues", Ndume said. Nissan states in a press release that the new Track Edition was "designed to deliver a higher level of performance than the GT-R Premium", while using elements of the top-of-the-line GT-R NISMO. Additionally the suspension is now lighter and uniquely tuned by Nismo, the wheels are now 20-inch forged items and the rear spoiler is made out of carbon-fiber. (more...)

On Monday, thousands were evacuated as the severe category four storm moved towards the coast of northeast Australia, packing destructive winds with warnings of major structural damage and surging tides. On Saturday, Port of Townsville staff and some of the construction team working on an upgrade at Berth 4 sandbagged areas of the port to protect against possible storm surges and water damage. The manufacturer's move to reintroduce the Galaxy Note stems from an effort to be environmentally friendly with the way it handles the devices after Greenpeace demanded Samsung details its plans for the recalled phones. Meanwhile, 12 other states have filed a brief in support of the immigration order. The Trump administration is now appealing a decision made by a federal judge in Maryland. When the USA announced the ban of large electronics including tablets and laptops from certain flights, some people believed the measure was simply a result of Trump's unhappiness with the response to his travel bans. While the time-frame, country of origin, and instigator of the reported plot were not disclosed by sources, the report does state that the fake looked "as good as the real thing". (more...)

Britain's ban on laptops and tablets being carried as cabin baggage on inbound flights from a group of Middle East countries could at some stage be extended to all flights, Home Secretary Amber Rudd has suggested. The devices would be "carefully packed into boxes" and returned on arrival in the United States, it said. USA border officials stationed in Abu Dhabi carry out passport and customs screenings before passengers board US -bound flights under an existing pre-screening program. (more...)

The new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are expected to launch in September and according to a recent report, TSMC will start manufacturing the new Apple A11 processor for the handsets next month. While the premium iPhone 8 is expected to offer a variety of features that won't be available on the iPhone 7s models, all three iPhones will reportedly share the same powerful new A11 chip. Last year, Waymo reported 13 accidents involving its fleet in the state of California, which requires companies testing autonomous vehicles to report any accidents. Waymo, Google's autonomous auto division, recently filed a lawsuit against Uber-owned Otto for stealing trade secrets and intellectual property. Starting tomorrow, PlayStation 4 Pro owners will finally be able to enjoy 4K video playback through the console's Media Player app, Sony confirmed earlier today. As Google's only entry in the PC space is Chrome OS, it may be more useful for Windows users to add Cortana to their phones, given its interoperability across desktop, laptop, and mobile - including iOS and Android, not just Windows 10.
