In the fourth quarter, TrendForce expected Apple to become the top smartphone producer with 74.1 million units for a 21.1 percent market share, followed by Samsung with 62 million units for a 17.7 percent share. Apple advertised that several iPhone models - from iPhone 8 to iPhone 11 - were water-resistant at a depth of between one and four metres (3 to 13 feet) for up to 30 minutes, depending on the model. Have you had any problems with iPhone water-resistance? The ACGM said in the statement that Apple's disclaimer tricked customers as it states that iPhones were not covered by warranty if the damage occured from any liquid. (more...)

DeepMind said the AlphaFold model was created using a neural network that runs on 128 of Google LLC's latest TPU neural processing cores, crunching data from 170,000 protein from public and other databases. Around $14.1 million has been granted for the project to build and deploy the first wireless network at the Moon that will start with 4G/LTE technology and would soon evolve to 5G. The moon's cellular network will operate during lunar landings and launches. The company planned to do this way back in 2018 in collaboration with PT Scientists, a German space company, and Vodafone UK to launch an LTE network at the site of Apollo 17 landing. (more...)

WhatsApp today rolled out a major update on its platform today. The app will allow users have custom wallpapers for every chat with a choice for different wallpapers on light mode and dark mode. WhatsApp says it is also improving Sticker Search. Users can now search for stickers based on text and emojis, and also in categories . In addition, de Blasio mentioned schools will move to a five-day a week in-person learning schedule wherever feasible.
