App developers form coalition to battle Apple

Facebook said on Friday that businesses running paid online events on its iOS app would not need to pay a 30 percent fee to Apple for the remainder of 2020, temporarily defusing a standoff between the two tech giants. It's a coordinated effort to protest Apple's current App Store rules. - Developers should have timely access to the same technical information as an app store's own developers. (more...)

The latter allows a user to take advantage of an app's feature set to take care of tasks without having to completely install the app. The update brings fixes for default app settings, Wi-Fi connectivity, home screen widgets, and more. To get the new update, simply go to Settings General Software Update on your mobile device. It is now rolling out for all eligible Apple devices. Vodafone Group Plc has won an worldwide arbitration case against the Indian government in a $2 billion tax dispute, two sources with direct knowledge of the matter said. India's tax department is part of its Finance Ministry, which said in a brief statement Friday evening that it has "just been informed" of the tribunal's decision. (more...)

In a press release , Facebook revealed that it removed 10 accounts and five pages that were USA -centric tied to the Chinese operation. Investigations by engineers showed that the network itself appeared to be working fine, but just to be sure, they chose to replace large parts of the cabling that served the village. An internet provider for a rural village in Wales has struggled for a year and a half to find the reason behind an extremely slow broadband connection, before finally tracing it to an old TV that interfered with the whole network.
