Ontario administers first COVID-19 vaccine in Toronto

Premier Doug Ford's office says a health-care worker will receive the first dose at a hospital in Toronto. Applause broke out after Quidangen received her shot, as more health care workers lined up for their vaccinations. Quebec is reporting 1,620 new cases of COVID-19 and 25 more deaths, as it prepares to administer its first vaccines later today. About 2,000 people in long-term care homes in Montreal and Quebec City are first in line to get the shot in that province. (more...)

London will move into the strictest tier of England's regional lockdown system on Wednesday after coronavirus rates in the capital soared to among the highest in the nation. "I must stress at this point that there is now nothing to suggest that this variant is more likely to cause serious disease", Hancock said. Currently London is in "Tier 2", which means non-essential shops and services can open, but it currently has one of the highest infection rates in the country. (more...)

In Longford there are less than 5 new cases recorded today giving it a 134.6 incidence rate and a total of 55 cases in the last fortnight. A construction site outbreak that accounted for two cases has been declared over. Ten States/UTs account for 79.46 per cent of the336case fatalities reported in the past 24 hours. One of the latest fatalities was a Marion County resident and the other one lived in Lake County. (more...)

Another 75,000 doses of the vaccine were scheduled to be delivered Tuesday to 19 sites in Texas, state officials said, in the largest vaccination campaign in USA history. According to the Canadian Press, 30,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines are bound for 14 distribution sites across the country. The 3,000 doses of COVID-19 arriving in Ottawa will be enough to vaccinate 1,500 Ottawa residents starting this week. (more...)
