The US company and Germany's BioNTech added that they expected further regulatory decisions from other countries "in the coming days and weeks". He said Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine could be authorized and shipped within days after a meeting of FDA outside advisers scheduled for December 10, who would review trial data and recommend whether to warrant approval. Sterling came out swinging as he kicked off his fiery press conference Tuesday afternoon by saying he would do his "best to keep it together, because it has all gone too far". Sterling also said that both he and Raffensperger - which include Raffensperger's wife getting "sexualized threats through her cell phone" - have received death threats. (more...)

The study found the percentage of the population infected has more than halved in both the north-west - down from 2.53% to 1.08% - and in the north-east, down from 1.88% to 0.72%. The researchers also drew attention to the fact "the virus is having an uneven impact" on people, with health workers, people living in large households and minority ethnic individuals all having a higher risk of infection. Of today's new cases, most are confined to the Greater Toronto Area. In the City, the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) now has 162 schools reporting at least one case of the virus. "In total, 35 per cent of cases reporting close contact indicated that their close contact with known cases were only non-household contacts". Moderna said it plans to apply on Monday for an emergency-use authorization for the vaccine in the US and for conditional marketing authorization in Europe. Speaking to reporters in Berlin, Karliczek stressed that the vaccine will be voluntary and that authorities will work hard to inform the public about possible side effects that a small percentage of recipients might experience after immunization, such as headaches, exhaustion and fever. It should be stored in extremely cold temperatures of around minus 70 degrees Celsius (minus 94 Fahrenheit). According to the report, 1.5 billion malaria cases and 7.6 million deaths have been averted since 2000. Celine Ng-Chan, the mother of the child, was quoted to have said her doctor suspected that she transferred the antibodies to her child during pregnancy. The active virus has not been found in samples of fluid around the baby in the womb or in breast milk till date. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in April 2020 has said that the virus transmission from a pregnant mother to the newborn is possible, but the proportion of pregnancies affected and the significance to the newborn ...
