Josephine County Public Health reported three new cases, bringing the total to 154, and Klamath County reported 4 new cases, bringing the total to 234. Over the last week, new infections each day tallied 105 or fewer - dropping as low as 37 on Wednesday. Mackey said it is frustrating that his relatively new lab was called out by name but he understood why the Health Department wanted to explain the reasons for Thursday's significant increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases. Seven people are associated with an outbreak centered on a construction site for a water treatment plant in the southeastern B.C. community of Elkford. There have been 254 infections associated with colleges and universities including 90 people - mostly students - who were infectious on campus. The week of August 16 was a dismal one for coronavirus cases in Jackson County, public health officials reported on Thursday, marking a record high for new cases in a one-week period. (more...)

Most COVID-19 cases have been found in the province's Lower Mainland, with 2,795 recorded in the Fraser Health region and 1,699 confirmed in the Vancouver Coastal Health region since the pandemic began. "As far as Sputnik-5 vaccine (COVID-19 vaccine developed in Russia) is concerned, India and Russian Federation are in communication". Caffeine is not only found in coffee but is also present in cola, chocolate and tea in low amounts. According to Jackie Anderson of the New Zealand Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology , there is no safe dose of caffeine for pregnant women and should be completely eliminated during pregnancy. The health unit notes that most people who are bitten by an infected mosquito do not develop symptoms. A Torontonian has contracted the West Nile virus becoming the first person to test positive for the infection this year in the city. People who get sick usually show symptoms three to 15 days after being bitten by an infected mosquito. Repellents that contain DEET are most effective, though sitting with an electric fan outside works well too. (more...)

The first sample, taken on March 26, was closely related to strains collected in the USA and England in March and April 2020, while the second, taken on August 15, was linked to strains collected in Switzerland and England in the summer. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health (whose data can sometimes lag behind county reports): Pontiac has had 43 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic, Dwight has had 24 cases, Fairbury has had 16, Long Point has had 12, Forrest has had 12 and Cornell has had 10.
