The update is a reversal from its original recommendation that testing was appropriate for anyone suspected of being exposed to the virus even if they were asymptomatic. "One wonders why these guidelines were changed - is it to justify continued deficit of testing?" University of Queensland coronavirus vaccine shows 'positive indications' in pre-clinical trials

The news comes as the University of Oxford revealed that its trials of a potential vaccine against COVID-19 being developed with AstraZeneca could be put before regulators this year if scientists are able to gather enough data. Last month, Moderna started a phase III large-scale trial testing the safety and efficacy of its immunization in 30,000 people. "It is especially exciting that the clinical trial will test giving the vaccine through people's skin using a device without any needles as together with stable DNA vaccine technology this could be a major breakthrough in being able to give a future vaccine to huge numbers of people across the world". In a press release, Toronto Public Health (TPH) said an adult resident contracted the virus. "The second positive mosquito report serves as a reminder that (West Nile Virus) is present in our communities, and it is important to reduce your risk of exposure to mosquitoes and protect yourself against bites". Even as Africa grapples with the coronavirus pandemic, the continent has eradicated another disease: the wild polio virus. In 1996, when the case count on the continent regularly reached 75,000 victims every year, South African President Nelson Mandela partnered with Rotary to launch the "Kick Polio Out of Africa" Campaign, and the group scrambled fast-or as fast as was possible with so many children to vaccinate on so vast a land mass. It does offer a warning for those who return home from their travels. The CDC also cautions that traveling increases your risk of both contracting and spreading the virus. "You may have been exposed to COVID-19 on your travels". Travel requirements may vary between locations. "Without a test, a 14-day quarantine seems reasonable" to prevent the spread of the virus. Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) receives fatality figures from the Office of Vital Statistics and death certificate reporting and that will be the only reporting available regarding local COVID-19 related deaths. Sunday saw 81 and Monday another 79 test positives. The number of active cases dropped by 19, to 1,656, after four straight record days. Schools are expected to reopen in B.C. (more...)

On Friday afternoon he was contacted by NSW Health who asked him to go to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital as his results were inconclusive and he needed to be retested. The government reports no active cases in the Northern health region, where all three previous recorded cases of the virus have been resolved.
