Alberta prayer gathering caused COVID-19 spike in Northern B.C.

During the press conference, Deputy Provincial Health Officer Dr. Réka Gustafson said this includes 100 new cases between Friday and Saturday, 88 new cases between Saturday and Sunday, and 48 new cases between Sunday and Monday. Anyone who attended the event is asked to self-monitor for symptoms and get tested if they do have symptoms. Northern Health has a total of 117 cases. (more...)

Union County's overall case count is down one from 306 listed Sunday, to 305 listed Monday, and two deaths. There are now 11 outbreaks at long-term care, support living and other facilities in the area with the deadliest still being at the Good Samaritan Society Southgate Care Centre , which has reported 29 deaths in total. "That's because some people may not even realize they have COVID-19 and they can inadvertently spread it to others". They warned low-lying areas could be flooded, with motorists in Cannock forced to navigate their way through flash flooding. There was travel chaos on the roads and train services in the area were disrupted due to the severe flooding. Several teachers have opted to resign rather than risking themselves to contract the virus. "Because what I sense is all New Zealanders would prefer that we stayed in alert level 1 and would be prepared to perhaps modify what our behaviours are in alert level 1, and so I think that's one of the things we should absolutely look at". India has recorded 2.6 million infections, with almost half of the cases registered this month alone, health ministry data shows.
