US President Donald Trump called the federal government's $1.95 billion deal with Pfizer and biotech firm BioNTech "a historic agreement" that will help the country distribute a coronavirus vaccine in record-breaking time. Just last week, the FDA fast tracked 2 of the companies' COVID-19 vaccines. That means a supply of 100 million doses would likely vaccinate 50 million Americans. (more...)

This afternoon, provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced 102 new cases since Friday's briefing, bringing B.C's total to 3,300. Henry says the recent trend is driven by young people in their 20s and 30s. In total, one long-term care facility and two acute-care facilities have active outbreaks. There have been no new COVID-19 related deaths as of Tuesday. (more...)

In addition, there have been no new COVID-19 deaths in Ottawa since June 25. While one day of data, today's increase is concerning. The disheartening rise in new cases comes as seven more regions are set to join much of the province in Stage 3 of the Ontario government's reopening plan. (more...)

In the Pfizer deal, the US agreed to secure 100 million doses of its vaccine candidate. Pricing a Covid-19 vaccine is far different than other products because of the potential demand and value, Pfizer Chief Executive Officer Albert Bourla said in June at a conference. (more...)

While the Justice Department said at least four American companies working on coronavirus treatment and testing were targeted by Xiaoyu and Jiazhi, the indictment from the USA attorneys office in Spokane, Washington , does not allege the two hackers successfully accessed any firms' networks or data and stole COVID-related research. Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott calls today's number of COVID-19 cases in the province concerning. But Rodriguez stressed Sunday that although the oldest of the cases goes back to mid-March, a lot of them - 60 infants - tested positive from July 1 to July 16. Annette Rodriguez, the director of public health for Corpus Christi Nueces County, revealed last week that 85 infections in the county have been in infants. (more...)

Scientists working on the project told the Daily Telegraph that their vaccine had provoked both antibody and T-cell responses to the coronavirus in human test subjects.
