Authorities has asked its citizens to improve self-protection awareness and ability. In May 2019, a Mongolian couple died from bubonic plague after they ate the raw kidney of a marmot. The UN health agency said it was notified by China on July 6 of a case of bubonic plague in Inner Mongolia. Four people in Inner Mongolia were diagnosed with the disease in November, two of whom had the more serious pneumonic plague . (more...)

For a population to have reached herd immunity naturally, anywhere from 40% to 60% of the people have to develop antibodies after being exposed to a virus. This means that herd immunity is infeasible and unattainable since 95 percent of the population in Spain remains susceptible to the virus. "At present, herd immunity is hard to achieve without accepting the collateral damage of many deaths in the susceptible population and overburdening of health systems", the report reads. (more...)

The news comes a month after a CDC survey found that people said they were cleaning more frequently due to the pandemic, but only about half said they really knew how to safely clean and disinfect their home. On Monday, the Ivy League school announced that it will only allow 40 percent of its undergraduates onto its campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts, at the start of the academic year this fall. Despite the significant changes to the 2020-2021 academic year, Harvard announced that tuition will remain the same. If similar measures are necessary in the spring, the email says, seniors concluding their time at Harvard will be given a blanket invitation to return to campus. (more...)
