Coronavirus restrictions were reimposed in Australia's southern state of Victoria on Saturday, following a persistent rise in infections over the past few days. Western Australia, which shut its borders in April, said it would weigh Victoria's situation in determining when to reopen its borders. The coronavirus death toll in the Republic of Ireland has risen to 1,715 after a further two fatalities were announced by the National Public Health Emergency Team. The number of vacant beds in the hospital system has also fallen. Over 173,000 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the province so far. Thursday's positive case was a man in his 60s who is in quarantine after arriving from Pakistan. It said that 386 contacts of the pair who had arrived from the United Kingdom had been followed up. One of the new cases is the infant child of the couple who tested positive yesterday, and the other is a 59 year old woman who travelled from Delhi . The child was under 2 years old.
