Coronavirus restrictions were reimposed in Australia's southern state of Victoria on Saturday, following a persistent rise in infections over the past few days. Western Australia, which shut its borders in April, said it would weigh Victoria's situation in determining when to reopen its borders. "If you don't feel comfortable, if you are anxious about your child returning to school, we will keep at home learning available", Ford added. The Ontario government also announced a plethora of new funding for the education system on June 19. The coronavirus death toll in the Republic of Ireland has risen to 1,715 after a further two fatalities were announced by the National Public Health Emergency Team. The number of vacant beds in the hospital system has also fallen. Over 173,000 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the province so far. The weekly Friday update from the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency put the total number two days ago at 802. (more...)

Thursday's positive case was a man in his 60s who is in quarantine after arriving from Pakistan. It said that 386 contacts of the pair who had arrived from the United Kingdom had been followed up. "That's an area we're absolutely going to be bolstering" he said. She travelled with her partner who has also been tested, but their result is pending. (more...)

One of the new cases is the infant child of the couple who tested positive yesterday, and the other is a 59 year old woman who travelled from Delhi . The child was under 2 years old. This doesn't capture the total number of tests performed in relation to this case, as numerous contacts of that person had already been tested as part of managed isolation rules. (more...)

The investigators utilized fluid dynamics formulas to simulate the flushing, and discovered that the droplets agitated by the vortices created by the water pouring into the bowl left droplets in the air for a minute - plenty of time to be inhaled or settle on bathroom surfaces like door handles or faucets.
