In a Facebook post MI state Senator Tom Barrett said accused Whitmer's husband of abusing her position. Whitmer and Mallory own a home in the Elk Rapids area. "We did not all pile in the vehicle to go enjoy our second home, although that would have been permitted". The request did not violate COVID-19 safety policies for MI, which has been hard-hit by the pandemic, with more than 33,000 cases and 5,241 deaths. (more...)

Experts are still working to understand the link between MIS-C and the coronavirus and are not certain whether it also occurs in adults, according to the U.S. The hospital says its "MIS-C pod" has barriers to prevent cross-contamination within the intensive care unit, including a decontamination area for those entering and exiting the unit and a specialized bed to help staff with the regular turning of intubated patients. House Majority Floor Leader Bill Seitz, a Cincinnati Republican, said even the state's trial lawyers' association supports the compromise bill. There have been 1,423 deaths among long-term care residents as of Friday, the agency reported Saturday. The day before, the province conducted 18,525 tests. The ministry also indicated there are now 1,476 confirmed cases among long-term care residents and 1,113 cases among staff. The press conference included Vanessa Allen (chief of microbiology at Public Health Ontario's lab), Matthew Anderson (CEO of Ontario Health), and Dirk Huyser, the chief coroner of Ontario. (more...)

Almost 800 GP practices across the United Kingdom are now recruiting patients onto the trial, led by the University of Oxford, but the World Health Organisation (WHO) has initiated the temporary suspension of global trials that include hydroxychloroquine.
