Gutzeit says MIS-C is very new and much remains to be learned. Experts are still working to understand the link between MIS-C and the coronavirus and are not certain whether it also occurs in adults, according to the U.S. The hospital says its "MIS-C pod" has barriers to prevent cross-contamination within the intensive care unit, including a decontamination area for those entering and exiting the unit and a specialized bed to help staff with the regular turning of intubated patients. There have been 1,423 deaths among long-term care residents as of Friday, the agency reported Saturday. The day before, the province conducted 18,525 tests. The ministry also indicated there are now 1,476 confirmed cases among long-term care residents and 1,113 cases among staff. Almost 800 GP practices across the United Kingdom are now recruiting patients onto the trial, led by the University of Oxford, but the World Health Organisation (WHO) has initiated the temporary suspension of global trials that include hydroxychloroquine.
