No timeline for the phased reopening of the Ontario economy

The website says 10,852 tests have been completed in the last day. That brings the total of cases in the province to 14,856, a 2.9 per cent increase over Sunday's total, a third day of falling growth rates. "But as I have said before - any death is a tragedy - it's something that has happened". Canadians can expect to see more testing in their workplaces, as well as specific measures and equipment to guard against COVID-19. (more...)

Beshear said there were 87 new cases and one probable case of COVID-19 Monday for a total of 4,146. "Because of your work, we have saved countless - I believe thousands of lives already", he said. Beshear said someone filed as rapper Tupac Shakur, and even though they probably thought it was amusing, it slows the claims process down. "For instance, we had somebody apply for unemployment for Tupac Shakur", a rapper who was shot to death in Las Vegas. (more...)

Philip Huang and other prominent physicians to review Abbott's executive order to reopen. Barbershops, hair salons, bars and gyms are to remain closed until at least mid-May, the governor said. "While it may be OK for other parts of Texas , it is not good in Paris". Portugal said she understands the need to get the Texas economy going again and understands the governor's executive order is now law. (more...)

The government and Members of Provincial Parliament will lead discussions with business associations, chambers of commerce, municipal leaders, the post secondary sector, corporate leaders, small business owners, community and social service providers, Indigenous partners, Franco-Ontarians, entrepreneurs and others. According to the Washington D.C. - based Pet Food Institute, with a regional office in The Bahamas, while the extra time may appear to be the cat's meow, it can zap the excitement that comes with a daily routine of mealtime rituals, greetings at the end of a workday and a walk in the park meeting up with other dogs ... The funding will give Family Caregivers of B.C. the opportunity to expand on services like its helpline and provide virtual connections to bring families and caregivers together. That program, since being launched, has delivered 12,193 virtual visits, 2,957 grocery deliveries, 2,782 meals, thanks to 5,500 volunteers. This doubles the funding to Family Caregivers of B.C.to $1 million for the year and will help expand toll-free support line hours, emotional supports and health-care navigation, ... (more...)

The rest of the 2019-2020 seasons of France Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 soccer have reportedly been canceled. Ligue 1 clubs had held out hopes of a return at some point in June alongside the top flights in Italy and England, with the Bundesliga planning to be back as early as May 9 pending government approval. The number of deaths in care homes also continues to rise - there have now been 184 so far in Wales. That amounts to 48% all deaths in care homes in Cumbria during that two-week period, according to the Care Quality Commission (CQC). According to figures released by the health ministry on Monday, 21,092 people had died in hospitals across the United Kingdom after testing positive for COVID-19. (more...)
