Barclays PLC upped their target price on shares of Medivation from $48.00 to $70.00 and gave the company an "overweight" rating in a report on Friday, May 6th. Cancer is one of the pharmaceutical industry's biggest markets with worldwide sales amounting to roughly $80 billion a year and growing more than 10% annually. (more...)

Rick Scott said in a statement . A fifth new case was diagnosed in a Pinellas County resident who hasn't traveled internationally. Health officials announced five cases of Zika last week that were linked to mosquitoes in Miami Beach. As of Monday, State Surgeon General Celeste Philip told the Herald there were no new local cases to report. As thousands of kids head back to school, Senator Mark Warner is questioning the manufacturer of the life-saving, EpiPen, which has seen a drastic price increase over the last few years. In 2008, the average cost for an EpiPen was around $100. Mylan, released a statement, the company says most families with high deductible health plans aren't aware they have to pay the full product cost, which they may have been completely unaware of. The state collected close to $25.5 million in taxes on the sale of marijuana between January and the end of June and should meet projections in tax collections set by state economists. As the tax rate is 25 percent, that translates to $102 million in sales since the beginning of the year. But it can only be sold by medical marijuana dispensaries until the Oregon Liquor Control Commission finalizes rules for the new industry, according to the Associated Press. (more...)
