The CBO also said it was likely drugmakers would not cut their prices because of the rule. In unveiling the proposal in January, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar called it "an incredibly important proposal that could fundamentally change how drugs are priced and paid for at pharmacies". Ninety-seven sugary drinks and 12 artificially sweetened beverages, including soda, sports drinks, energy drinks and 100 percent fruit juices with no added sugar, were tracked. Almost 2,200 cases of cancer were diagnosed, with the average age at diagnosis being 59. The connection between sugary drinks and cancer remained the same even after the team adjusted for age, sex, educational level, family history of cancer , smoking and physical activity, the researchers said. Democrats gave a preview of their health care messaging now that the lawsuit is back in the headlines. He said the legal remedy for those states would involve only the parts of the law that have harmed them. Some 13 U.S. states have reported the Salmonella cases involving 45 people infected by the bacteria. Of 24 people with available information, 17 (71%) reported contact with pig ear dog treats or with dogs who were fed pig ear dog treats. Children younger than 5 years old should not touch or eat pet food or treats. Animals who have contracted the bacteria can spread it to people and other animals in their home. (more...)

Although it's nearly never fatal, one death has been reported since 2009 - while 287 people were hospitalized between 2009 and 2017, according to the CDC, which found that the United States has experienced a 13 percent spike in crypto outbreaks per year over time. While there is no evidence the vulnerability has caused harm, FDA called the risk to patients "significant" if the cybersecurity weakness is not resolved. Health officials are warning against the use of certain wireless insulin pumps because of a risk they could be hacked.
