Certain mosquito-borne diseases, like Yellow Fever and Zika virus, pose special risks to travelers. Since 2002, there have been 64 confirmed human cases of West Nile virus in Lake County, as well as two confirmed deaths. So far, in 2018 no new cases have been reported. According to the Kruger National Park in South Africa , the baobabs can live to be 3,000 years old and can grow to be so large that up to 40 people can shelter inside its hollow trunk. Despite their hardy character, baobabs need water just like any other plant, and southern Africa has become hotter and dryer in recent years. The bacteria, which can be fatal, was more likely to be found on towels used for multiple jobs, such as wiping utensils, and cleaning surfaces, as well as drying hands. Kitchen towels can harbor pathogens that may cause food poisoning, findings of new study have revealed. The research found staphylococcus was more likely to be found on towels from families with children and of lower socio-economic status. (more...)

A CDC investigation indicates pre-cut melons, including fruit salads, are a likely source of the outbreak in Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, Illinois and Ohio.
