The Taliban says it was not involved. The Afghan president, Ashraf Ghani, condemned the attack. An Afghan security officer who had been protecting the German Embassy died in the attack, and while members of the embassy's staff were injured, "All are now safe", says German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel . No injuries were reported and the fire at the prison's industries building was extinguished after a few hours. The roof of the building collapsed. Joliet police say they received numerous tips via social media linking Monday's fire to two 15-year-old boys, who were at the prison at the time of the fire. (more...)

The UPSC announced the results today. In total, 1,099 candidates cleared the exam. Of this, 500 belong to the General category while 347 are in OBC, SC 163 and ST 89. Of the 2,961, the UPSC has selected 1,099 for the services. "We are very happy as she is the topper this time", he said over phone. It is an oppurtunity to serve the poor. (more...)

IDPH Director Nirav D. Shah, M.D., J.D., says West Nile virus is seen in IL every year, and that the public should take precautions to protect themselves. Past year 152 human West Nile virus cases were reported to the IDPH, with five people dying from the illness. There hadn't been any reported human cases in 2017 as of the news release. (more...)

Louis. The Chief Medical Officer of SSM Health, Dr. Alexander Garza, says in 80 percent of the cases, West Nile does not cause any problems in those it infects. Many people with the Zika virus won't show any symptoms, but it can cause birth defects in pregnant women. No human cases of West Nile have been reported thus far in 2017. (more...)
