As for the pitching, the combination of Dominic Taccolini, Matt Cronin and Josh Alberius did not give up a single hit over their seven innings of work, even while allowing five walks. Auburn seemingly didn't understand that rule, while Chad Spanberger flat-out ignored it. Lost in the excitement that was the Spanberger show, sophomore Jax Biggers went 2-for-3 with two triples and two runs scored, tying the tournament and school record for triples in a game. (more...)

Col. Mark W. McDonough, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Safety, said troopers will be on full patrols during peak travel times, strictly enforcing seat belts laws and keeping an eye out for impaired drivers. According to ABC17's last year's reports, 7 people died over the weekend, none of them in Mid-Missouri. "To make sure that you're trying to avoid a traffic collision, you want to increase our following distance, and slow down and definitely wear your seat belt". (more...)

Health ministers and other senior envoys to WHO's annual World Health Assembly elected Tedros over Dr. David Nabarro of Britain, a United Nations veteran, in a third and final round of voting. Tedros said, "It was a massive effort delivering massive results". He is the first African appointed to head the global health agency. "We are very pleased, and we invite him to visit Israel", she said. (more...)

US President Donald Trump welcomed his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron , to his first meeting at the US Embassy in Brussels on Thursday and praised his "tremendous victory". The pair met ahead of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels - a city Trump called a "hellhole" in 2016 - and it was Macron who appeared to emerge victorious in the battle of the handshakes. The battles with the Maute group, which has pledged allegiance to Islamic State , started on Tuesday during a failed raid by security forces on one of the group's hideouts that spiraled into chaos. The gunmen belonged to the Maute group, which along with Hapilon's faction of the Abu Sayyaf , had pledged allegiance to IS, authorities said. Gianforte was elected despite being charged with misdemeanor assault on Wednesday after witnesses said he grabbed a reporter for the Guardian newspaper and slammed him to the ground. (more...)
