Running can increase your lifespan

Yep, love it or hate it, various studies have found that runners live about three years longer than non-runners, the New York Times reports. According to the study, running cuts the risk of premature mortality by 25 to 40 percent. Actually, the benefits plateau at running four hours a week. By re-analyzing their past data, as well as other studies on the subject, they unveiled that the relationship between running and longevity is purely associational. (more...)

Should the Canadian legislature approve the Cannabis Act and other measures, the sale of legal marijuana in Canada would be limited to those age 18 and above. Although public opinion is generally supportive of cannabis legalization, Canada's medical profession has expressed concern about the dangers posed by setting too low a minimum legal age . (more...)

Planned Parenthood says it will hold a "solidarity" rally Friday at its Minnesota headquarters in St. Paul. And 78% of Planned Parenthood centers offer extended hours in which women could get care after work or on the weekend, whereas only 57% federally qualified health centers and just 18% of health departments do. The researchers used the Swedish National Database from 1998 through 2012 to compare the number of deaths which had occurred in those who had diabetes. T1D is the most common form of diabetes in young people. But these days, type 2 is being diagnosed in school kids, and occasionally in toddlers. In the year 2003, the older teens were having a slight edge, with incidences of 10 cases per 100,000 people which was compared with eight cases per 100,000 for their young counterpart. (more...)

The Tea Room will feature Easter tea with special goodies including an Easter egg tart and chick cookie served along with a scone and tea. Both will start at the Mount Helena trail head. Cotner Blvd. In Wamac , Mayor Butch Mathis is coordinating the Easter Egg hunt for the 8th year at the Wamac Park at one Sunday afternoon. The free hunt will begin at noon on Saturday , where kids will have the opportunity to hunt for hundreds of eggs spread across the football field. (more...)
