French border checks cause traffic chaos in Dover

A FERRY company has urged United Kingdom and French authorities to ensure there is no repeat of the huge delays at Dover. A huge volume of traffic headed for the short Channel crossing from Friday but tightened security checks on travellers saw passengers passports being checked and – with the Port of Dover saying the French Police aux Frontières were “seriously under-staffed” – coaches taking more than half an hour to proceed. Charleston County Sheriff's Maj. Roof has been in solitary confinement since his arrival at the detention center since June 2015. It has two tiers of cells and the shower Roof was using was in the center on the ground floor. Roof's face was bruised, but he was otherwise relatively unharmed by the attack. The inmate who attacked him is facing additional assault charges, according to the Associated Press . (more...)

In a 5-3 decision , the high court said it would stay the judgment and halt the order until it decides whether to take the case. Mr. Block expressed optimism that Gavin will eventually win his case, but said the temporary block would leave Gavin "stigmatized and isolated from the rest of his peers just because he is transgender" at the start of the school year. There have been more than 1,800 travel-related Zika cases in US mainland and 479 travel-related cases involving pregnant women. Common symptoms include fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes). In addition to actively monitoring all pregnant women infected with Zika, the babies born with microcephaly linked to the disease will receive medical treatment and monitoring for one year. (more...)

According to the Sacramento Bee , both cases occurred sometime this year, but officials are declining to disclose where in the state the babies were born, or any further information about the infected mothers. The number of Zika virus cases is expected to increase among travelers this summer because of outbreaks in countries such as Mexico, PuertoRico and Brazil. (more...)
