State officials on Friday announced the state's jobless rate was 4.8 percent in October. Ireland's unemployment rate has been revised down to a new post-crash low of 7.5 per cent. Over the year , manufacturing employment rose by 1,700. "The robust 0.7% rise in employment will help allay fears that softness in some Irish economic indicators, especially in the export sector, heralds a sharp slowdown in the economy", Mr Mac Coille said. A University of Kansas student has been named a Rhodes Scholar to study refugees and forced migration. At Oxford, he will pursue a master of philosophy degree in modern languages. Cloudy with a chance of rain and snow. Cloudy, with a high near 44. West wind 13 to 17 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 28 miles per hour. We'll likely pick up an inch of rain on Thursday alone.
