Colombia: More than 5000 pregnant women infected with Zika virus

Rio de Janeiro (AFP) - Brazilian researchers said Monday that the discovery of Zika in the brains of babies with microcephaly adds to growing evidence of a link between the mosquito-transmitted virus and the birth defect. Brazil is trying hard to combat the virus since it could affect the upcoming Summer Olympics which will be held in Rio de Janeiro . Olympic organizers previously said the games would be held during Rio's winter when there tends to be fewer mosquitoes. (more...)
