COVID-19 deaths are up 13 per cent from last week, averaging 785 a day over the past seven days. Many countries are experiencing their own record surges. In Russia, confirmed cases rose above 17,000 for the first time. "People are learning to die with it". The study looked at over 400 patients who were hospitalised due to COVID-19 to find out whether the treatment healed people with moderate disease but it found that "convalescent plasma showed limited effectiveness". The transfusions were of blood taken from COVID-19 patients who survived and included the antibodies their bodies produced to fight off the virus.
