Ex-GOP lawmaker claims Trump's North Carolina speech showed he's in decline

The former president appeared at the event in Greenville, North Carolina, but CNN and Fox News did not carry the speech on their channels. Snopes looked through photographs taken at the event and published by the visual media company Getty Images that clearly show the former president on stage wearing trousers with a zipper in the front.

Lara Trump, wife of Eric Trump, told a crowd at the North Carolina Republican Convention that she had decided not to run for North Carolina's Senate seat in 2022, citing her love for her family.

"This gentleman is going to be your next senator", Trump added, offering Budd his "complete and total endorsement". As such, we rate this claim as "False".

In sharp contrast, his personal blog struggled to gather even a fraction of those numbers when it launched, said NBC News, perhaps surprising Trump, the avid social media commentor. Trump's claims about election fraud have triggered a wave of Republican-backed voter integrity bills in state legislatures across the country.
