Trump Plaza demolished in NJ

Donald Trump's Casino Demolished With Explosives In 'Las Vegas Style Implosion'

"They said someone was in the Caesars parking garage, and there was a drone being flown above Caesars, which as we know, which is a temporary no-fly zone, so that's what delayed it", says Marty Small.

"His tenure here ended horribly", Mayor Small told the New York Times.

A spot on the Atlantic City Boardwalk where movie stars, athletes and rock stars used to party - and a future president honed his instincts for bravado and hype - was reduced to a smoking pile of rubble on Wednesday.

Trump World's Fair Casino, formerly Playboy and then Atlantis, closed in 1999 and was torn down the following year after only a few years of operation on the Boardwalk.

The Trump Plaza casino in Atlantic City was destroyed in a series of explosions at 9 a.m. Wednesday that saw the luxury boardwalk building crumble into a giant cloud of dust in less than 20 seconds. It was also the last of Trump's casinos in the city to close back in 2014. "So when he left Atlantic City, it wasn't, 'Sorry to see you go.' It was, 'How fast can you get the hell out of here?'"

The property is owned by billionaire investor Carl Icahn, a donor and former special economic adviser to Trump, who has not yet announced plans for the site.

Don't you feel soothed?

On February 17, the once-iconic Trump Plaza will no longer stand between Missouri and MS avenues.

Bob McDevitt, president of the main casino workers' union, said the place oozed glamor and buzz when it first opened.

Sitting in "front row" seats in a nearby pier over the beach and Atlantic Ocean to view the tower's destruction with city officials will be 10 sets of winners of a city-sponsored charity auction benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City. Icahn Enterprises, a major real estate developer, bought both the Trump Taj Mahal, which closed in 2016, Trump Plaza and the Trump Entertainment Resorts company.

The hotel and casino, which closed operations in 2014 and has stood vacant ever since, was imploded by officials on Wednesday morning, February 17, 2021.
