How did Rush Limbaugh die

Rush Limbaugh, the conservative radio host who shaped the modern-day Republican party, is dead after losing his battle to cancer.

"We, the Limbaugh family, are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved Rush has died", read the statement, signed by his wife Kathryn Adams Limbaugh.

'I, like you, very much wish Rush was behind this golden microphone right now, welcoming you to another exceptional three hours of broadcasting.

More recently, he was a fervent supporter of single-term POTUS Donald Trump, who awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom previous year.

Limbaugh was being treated with Stage IV lung cancer, a diagnosis he learned of in January 2020.

First Lady Melania Trump presented him with the honor after her husband lauded Limbaugh as "a special man beloved by millions of Americans" and "the greatest fighter and victor that you will ever meet". He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Trump at the State of the Union address days later.

Limbaugh had been absent from his show for the last two weeks as he received cancer treatment.

A member of the Radio Hall of Fame, Limbaugh's nationally syndicated show - The Rush Limbaugh Show - premiered in the summer of 1988.

After he went off the air on February 2 for treatment, Rudy Giuliani tweeted a "get well" message.

'I wasn't expected to be alive today, ' he said.
