Taylor Swift breaks top-selling album record for 5th time

Taylor Swift’s folklore becomes top-selling album in US

What's even more impressive is that Taylor had two of the top 10 best-selling albums of 2020.

And true to form, Taylor's fans were quick to devise their own theories on the meanings behind her new tracks, including speculation on her secret marriage to Joe Alwyn, her possible shading of Tom Hiddleston, and clues which fans reckon point towards the name of Zayn and Gigi's new baby.

As the singer's ninth studio album, Evermore, returns to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart for a third nonconsecutive week, Swift now has a cumulative 51 weeks at No. 1 across all eight of her chart-toping albums.

Her other albums that broke records include, "Lover", "Reputation", "1989", and "Fearless".

However, to be fair, two of those honors were from Adele's sophomore album "21", which was a top seller in both 2011 and 2012.

Swift had begun past year expecting to perform stadium tour dates in support of her 2019 album, "Lover".

Released on July 24, Folklore features a new style for Swift: alternative indie.

Evermore also made the cut, coming in as the 10th top-selling album of the year, with 283K copies sold in the less than three weeks since it was released.

"The evermore deluxe album with 2 bonus tracks "right where you left me" and "it's time to go" is now available!" the performer wrote in a January 8 Instagram post. "How you always know before you know, you know?", she wrote.

Swifties speculated that the latter was about pal Karlie Kloss, dissecting the lyric: 'When the words of a sister come back in whispers / That prove she was not in fact who she seemed / Not a twin from your dreams / She's a crook who was caught'.
