Mindy Kaling teases "fan favourites" in 'Legally Blonde 3'

Mindy Kaling REVEALS new deets about Reese Witherspoon starrer Legally Blonde 3; Can’t wait for fans to see it

"Bend and Snap is forever".

Reese Witherspoon, who played Elle Woods in the 2001 comedy, confirmed that she would be returning for a third instalment in 2018, and it was announced in May previous year that Kaling would be penning the script to the hotly-anticipated sequel, along with Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-creator Dan Goor.

In an interview with Access, Kaling said: "I love the franchise so much".

"I love the franchise so much", said Kaling. Up until now, some people still use the phrase, "bend and snap", or at least, bring up the phrase when they want to say something positive.

Kaling is a huge fan of the original film and is sure to give nods to Elle's origin story - including the memorable "bend and snap". She said it has been "really fun" to imagine.

Like all other movies however, shooting still has to commence for the movie because of the relentless COVID-19 pandemic. "We definitely have a lot of fan favorites from the original movie", Kaling said.

News of a third movie in the hit romantic comedy franchise was first announced in 2018 with original writers Kirstin Smith and Karen McCullah set to return.

The mom of two spoke about her friendship with Reese Witherspoon, as the duo has alongside one another in A Wrinkle in Time and The Morning Show.

The only downside about the Legally Blonde 3 script being finished is that there are no plans to go into production just yet. Kaling also pointed out that Witherspoon became a mom at a young age and found success in her career. "Elle Woods is so iconic, proving you can be girly and smart at the same time".

The author Mindy Kaling has anticipated some details regarding The Revenge of the Blondes 3, the second sequel to the film series that starred Oscar victor Reese Witherspoon. "I can't wait to see what people will think of the way we wrote Elle Woods".
