Game of Thrones Animated Series in Early Development at HBO Max

Game of Thrones

The project is reportedly still in the early stages of development, however, and deals have not been inked, meaning the concept could be scrapped before it has a chance to reach the small screen. Similar to the reported animated series, development on this prequel is still very much in its infancy with no writers or actors now attached. The report states that the series will be geared towards adults as the network is now meeting with writers.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, unlike the Jurassic WorldCG Netflix series, Camp Cretaceous, this one will definitely not be geared towards children, instead appealing to an audience that watched the live action show.

Per Reuters, however, HBO did not comment on the report.

The show ended its run on HBO in 2019. While the series' final season has been met with criticisms for its development, the show still made huge waves and garnered significant following over the years. The cast of "Game of Thrones" stands on stage.

Aside from the upcoming House of the Dragon and Tales of Dunk and Egg (which we heard about earlier this week), the network reportedly has ideas for several other Game of Thrones prequel shows kicking around, one of which is said to focus on Robert Baratheon's rebellion. George RR Martin is kind of spending his time watching movies, editing books, attending events, and now he will get busy developing another Game of Thrones spin-off. House of the Dragon pulls from Fire & Blood and will tell the story of House Targaryen, which took place 300 years prior to the events of the original series.
