The actress, who was best known for playing Tammy Metzler in the 1999 movie, died in Portland.

The actress, who retired from acting to become a naturopathic physician, died on December 29th, her family revealed. The outlet, again citing the family, noted Campbell said she felt like she was coming down with a cold before her death.

Her last acting credit was in 2002, before she decided to make a career shift to become a naturopathic physician. According her family, she collapsed after seeing her patients amid practice.

The media outlet has reported that Jessica's aunt tried to revive her but was unable to, and neither could the EMTs when they arrived at the house. News has reached out to the Multnomah County Medical Examiner. She played Tammy Metzler, the younger sister of Klein's character Paul Metzler.

She shot to fame in 1999 comedy satire Election with Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick.

An autopsy has been completed but a cause of death has yet to be determined.

She would go on to guest-star on NBC series Freaks and Geeks and 2001 movie The Safety of Objects with Glenn Close, before quitting acting and living a normal life. Campbell leaves behind a 10-year-old son named Oliver, and Wessling has set up a GoFundMe page to both providing for Oliver and paying for "cremation, memorial, and probate expense". Working with Jessica on Election was such a pleasure.

Election director Alexander Payne and Freaks and Geeks executive producer Judd Apatow were among the top donors listed on the GoFundMe - and there has been no shortage of tributes to Campbell.

Campbell hadn't appeared in a film since 2002 and later worked as a naturopathic practitioner.
