PM Modi's confidence has inspired the nation: RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani

India's fight against coronavirus in crucial phase says Mukesh Ambani

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the eighth convocation of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU), Gandhinagar at 11 am on Saturday via video conferencing. Certain pockets of the country like Ahmedabad have already imposed weekend curfews to contain the spread of virus, while authorities are considering imposing travel restrictions in Delhi.

Ambani, while addressing the gathering virtually said, he sees "explosive and exponential growth" in the post-COVID era and asked the graduating students to venture out with hope and confidence without being anxious.

Earlier in the day, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said a digital platform used in the Universal Immunisation Programme was being repurposed to digitally track movement of stocks of Covid-19 vaccines, once available, and also trace those who will receive the shots thus ensuring last-mile vaccine delivery.

Various issues, including the prioritisation of population groups, reaching out to healthcare workers, cold-chain infrastructure augmentation, adding vaccinators and tech platform for vaccine roll-out were also discussed in the meeting, PM Modi said.

By the middle of the 21st Century, the world will use twice the amount of energy it is using today, according to Ambani. He said India needs to pursue two goals - to become an economic superpower and a "green and clean energy" superpower.

"We need disruptive solutions in renewables, low carbon and carbon recycle technologies to achieve this goal. We also need great innovations in energy storage, saving and utilisation", he said.

Narendra Modi chaired a review meeting on COVID-19 vaccine distribution in India.
