New Zealand's cricketers will consult the West Indies team before deciding whether players take a knee against racism ahead of their Twenty20 series opener in Auckland on Friday, the first worldwide cricket in the country since the coronavirus pandemic.

The Caribbean side underwent a two-week quarantine after arriving in New Zealand, earning a rebuke from health authorities when some players breached social distancing rules at their hotel.

A sense of normality returns to cricket on Friday when New Zealand take on West Indies in their Twenty20 worldwide series opener with no restrictions on the crowd size in Auckland, but the Covid-19 pandemic continues to cast a long shadow over the tour.

New Zealand's top order let them down but Jimmy Neesham forged important partnerships with debutant Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner to seal victory with four balls to spare.

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said it "was made aware today that six members of the Pakistan touring squad, now in managed isolation in Christchurch, have tested positive for COVID-19". "I was happy with the way the boys chased it down there". He blasted sixes onto the roof and to all parts of Eden Park, which contained a large crowd. All players were tested four times before their departure from Lahore to New Zealand and were negative on each occasion.

All overseas arrivals must undergo two weeks in quarantine, although New Zealand Cricket negotiated special privileges to allow the tourists to train together. Glenn Phillips smashed 22 off seven before getting out to Oshane Thomas.

West Indies opener Andre Fletcher smashed back-to-back sixes off debutant Kyle Jamieson, who conceded 18 from his first over in worldwide T20.

What time will the first T20 match between New Zealand (NZ) vs West Indies (WI) begin? The heavens opened up, for another delay, following which Fletcher and King pulled out the drives, cuts, and straight swipes down the ground to pick up 29 off Hamish Bennett's first over.

Southee called on Ferguson as his second change in the fifth over and he made an instant impact, bowling Fletcher with a searing first delivery.

Pollard played a destructive innings, but the West Indies fell just short. "I think it was fantastic cricket in terms of the ball flying all round the boundaries", he said.
