Nets Acquire Landry Shamet in Three-Team Trade with Pistons, Clippers

During Wednesday night's NBA Draft, they struck again, completing a three-team trade with the Brooklyn Nets and Detroit Pistons, as first reported by The Athletic's Shams Charania.

The Pistons acquired the draft rights to Saddiq Bey (the Nets' 19th pick in the draft), McGruder, Nets forward Dzanan Musa, a second-round draft pick from Toronto in 2021, and the draft rights to Jaylen Hands. With the Clippers being forced to send guard Landry Shamet across the country to the Nets in this three-way deal, the Clippers ultimately secured sharpshooter Luke Kennard as a result of all of this shuffling around.

Shamet was traded by the Philadelphia 76ers to the Clippers at the deadline in 2019. McGruder, 29, averaged 3.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game as a depth option on the Clippers. The 24-year-old Boston native was originally selected with the 42nd overall pick in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft by Detroit after spending two years (2016-18) at the University of Miami.

In his last of three seasons with Detroit, he logged 15.8 points per game and shot 44% of field goals. The 12th pick in the 2017 draft appeared in 164 games with Detroit, averaging 9.8 points and shooting 40 percent from 3-point range.
