Google and Facebook Employers to Resume Full-Time Office Work Next Year

Two of the biggest tech companies in the world - Facebook and Google - have reportedly allowed their employees to work from home till the end of 2020. The Google boss said that there will be certain moments or occasions where employees can come into the office.

According to Pichai, the few workers that will be allowed to work in corporate offices will resume in June or July, and they will resume with enhanced anti-COVID-19 safety measures in place.

The work from home, a Facebook spokesperson said that employees who can continue their work away from the office can enjoy the work from home by the end of the year. According to a report by The Information (via 9To5 Google), Alphabet Inc CEO Sundar Pichai told the employees that all Googlers who are able to work remotely will continue to do so till the end of 2020.

A spokesman for Facebook said: "Facebook has taken the next step in its return to work philosophy". "Take the time to do whatever you need to do to prioritize your well-being", the email said. Coronavirus pandemic has forced a majority of workers across the globe to work from home for almost two months. "We will be using science to guide us in our decision making".

Facebook employees have been working from home since the nationwide lockdown was initiated in march.

Last month, Facebook joined Microsoft in calling off all large in-person events until next year. "Our ramp back to the office will be slow, deliberate and incremental". This includes content reviewers who work in the areas of counter-terrorism, self-harm and suicide prevention, as well as engineers working on complex hardware. Earlier, Google had told all the employees through email that it is not possible to come to office before June but now it has been chose to extend the work from home.
