Bengals put RB Mixon on IR ahead of matchup with Washington

Joe Burrow Week 11

Rookie quarterback Joe Burrow was carted off the field with a left leg injury in the Cincinnati Bengals' game against the Washington Football Team on Sunday afternoon. Burrow was down on the field for several minutes before the cart came out to get him.

The Cincinnati Bengals have placed running back Joe Mixon on injured reserve with a foot injury. His day ended 22 of 34 passing for 203 yards and a touchdown. The 23-year-old appeared to confirm he'll miss the remainder of the campaign via Twitter. Burrow was knocked forward while the leg was pushed awkwardly backward.

On a third-and-2 play in the third quarter, Burrow was hit low by one pass rusher and high by another after throwing an incompletion intended for wide receiver Tyler Boyd.

Burrow couldn't apply any weight on the leg and he was helped onto a cart. Well-wishers also included Washington's Chase Young, Terry McLaurin and Dwayne Haskins, who all played with Burrow at Ohio State before he transferred to LSU and eventually led the Tigers to a national title.

Burrow did not reveal the exact nature of his injury but said "see ya next year" in a tweet later on Sunday.
