Sony Responds To ‘Spider-Man 3’ Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield Casting Rumor

Spider-Man 3 Sony Addresses Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield Rumors

Well, it looks like they're about to give it that good old college try. Plus, if you make Spider-Man 3 into a Spider-Verse movie, you've basically cut the legs out from under Spider-Verse 2 - where appearances from animated versions of Maguire's and Garfield's characters would make a lot more sense (and probably cost a lot less money). Unusual was added to the cast which promptly sparked suspicions that a live-action Spider-Verse film was in the works.

The rumor can be traced back to FandomWire, which reports on October 12 that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield "have signed on" to Sony's third Spider-Man film that Marvel will help produce.

According to MCU Cosmic, Sony had already cast someone to play the role of Miles in live-action. Moreover, the Spider-Man 3 team has already kickstarted production in the US. There are also a lot of other insane rumors flying around out there, but today is one that is really cool if it turns out to be true. One representative simply told ET Canada: "Those rumored castings are not confirmed". We don't know if this will be for the third Spider-Man film, but with multi-verses in the mix, they can pretty much introduce whoever they want and just say he's from another universe.

Interestingly, this follows the reveal at the very end of Spider-Man: Far From Home that the MCU's J. Jonah Jameson is played by J.K. Simmons, the same actor who played the part in the Sam Raimi/Toby Maguire Spider-Man movies. Fans are excited for the first look at Spider-Man 3 as well as the Doctor strange's film.

Well, maybe just a little bit.
