More than 600,000 Israelis live in over 230 settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds.

Al-Quds daily reported on this as well as said in its editorial that the Palestinians expect more from the European Union than just statements of condemnation.

The West Bank, including East Jerusalem, is regarded as occupied territory under worldwide law, thus making all Jewish settlements there illegal.
